Carlos Ortega Elizalde is an artist and graphic designer from Guanajuato, MEXICO. At present he is working as a Graphic Designer and 3D artist at Guanajuato University. He has worked on various subjects including women, animals, dinosaurs, and monsters, fantasy creatures having half human female body and half horse or fish like body, and objects like speargun, a coffee cup, cars and machine like an all terrain vehicle, etc. His detailed portfolio can be found on CGSociety. He has used Photoshop, mental ray, zbrush, XSI, Mudbox.
Carlos had a desire to become an archaeologist/geologist but landed in the field of graphic designing and found it something he really enjoys doing. And with this knowledge and skill, he has made dinosaurs and rhinoceros which have always inspired him. He has worked for Carrara Studio and Maya, where he worked on some really interesting projects, for instance the scenario he made for a short film while working at Carrara. He has worked for advertising agency as well.
He likes modeling the characters and enjoys texturing, shading and lightening the piece. Apart from his own idea, he has made some pieces being inspired by his favorite artists. My favorite piece from his work is “The Awakening of July” which he made in 2009 in mental ray Photoshop and zbrush. It is a very sophisticated sculpture looking art piece, very elegant! All the intricate details are given due attention.
